Yesterday, I woke up at 9 a.m. and drank a cup of freshly
brewed coffee. Then I read the headlines on my smartphone while taking a nasty
shit. In 2019, a woman from Daejeon got pregnant before breaking up with her
boyfriend. She gave birth alone in one of the city’s many hospitals and failed
to register the child with the government. Anyway, the police now believe that
she starved her new-born to death over a period of three days. And after killing
him, she buried the corpse on a hill behind her house. She has subsequently
been charged with murder for her crime.
I ate hash browns for breakfast as I surfed the internet.
One of the largest churches in the world is called Elevation. It’s led by a well-known
charismatic preacher named Steven Furtick, and it’s famous for publishing and
performing popular Christian contemporary music. One of the senior pastors is
Holly Furtick who is the wife of Steven. However, Southern Baptists forbid
women from holding leadership positions. So the Furticks have left the
organization and are now independent. I’m not a huge fan of Elevation. Why? I
believe that the Furticks worship money and fame just like all the other filthy
pagans in the world. And sadly they aren’t above ripping off their loyal congregation
in order to buy a new Mercedes Benz.
I looked at Rice-Boy Larry. “Where’s your mother?”
He said, “She’s shopping across the street.”
“For what?”
“Fruit and vegetables.”
I nodded and smiled. “So how is your life going?”
He shrugged. “Mom says she’s going to divorce you in two
weeks.”
“Promises, promises.” I sighed heavily. “Well, let’s hope
she goes through with it.”
“She told me that we’re both children of the devil.”
“Why?”
“For torturing her. She believes that God will punish us for
our crimes.”
“Don’t feel any guilt. You’ve been nothing but kind to your
mom.”
“Do you think she’ll actually do it?”
“Do what?”
“Divorce you.”
I pointed at him with my index finger. “Your mom will do
what she always does. She’ll leave for a few weeks, and then she’ll come back and
clean the place. But this time it’s going to be different.”
“How so?”
“If she walks out that door, she can’t come back. Plain and
simple. You’re not a child anymore, so the judge isn’t going to take you away
from me. And we’ve all suffered under the reign of this emotional terrorist for
far too long. My nerves can no longer take the drama.”
And what I’m saying isn’t hyperbole. The abuse that my sons and I have been forced to endure is off the charts. I’ll give you a quick example. Larry and I were living in Beijing back in the day before COVID hit. He was in the sixth grade at the time and felt very vulnerable because he couldn’t speak Mandarin.
Anyway, the Dragon Lady bought a plane ticket on the sly and
flew back to Korea. In other words, the old bitch left us high and dry. But before she departed, she pretty much drained the bank
account. We had to survive for ten days in a communist country without having a dime to our names. Larry
and I danced for joy when payday finally rolled around. It felt ten times
better than Christmas.
I’ve had to put up with the bullshit over the years because
she was always threatening to take my kid away. But now he’s sixteen, and
according to Korean law, he’s old enough to choose which parent he wants to
live with. So she can go take a flying fuck at a rolling donut.
